(CNMC) headquartered in Washington D.C., is a leader in the development ofinnovative new treatments for childhood illness and injury. Among the Top 10 Pediatric Hospitals in America, CNMC has been serving the nation’s children for more than 130 years. The Academic Medical Center provides routine care for pediatric patients, and serves as the prime pediatric trauma center for the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition, it is home to a world renowned research and development department that has made groundbreaking discoveries in many areas.

The Board of Visitors of Children’s National Medical Center, established in 1870, has been a vital force for more than 130 years. The Board contributes to Children’s Hospital though volunteer service and fundraising.

Last year, the Board of Visitors of Children’s National Medical Center, through the Care for Kids Card program, raised $230,000 for Children’s. And, in the last two years alone, the Board of Visitors have provided grants totaling more than $2,000,000 which have contributed to research, patient life improvements, family support, medical equipment and professional development.

Outstanding strides in patient care combined with innovative research programs greatly benefit our patients and community, but they come at a high price. Last year alone Children’s provided over $57 million in uncompensated medical care.
